The Ascension of Christ by Rembrandt, 1636

Jesus Christ ascended to heaven 2,000 years ago and He is to come a second time. When He came to save humankind 2,000 years ago, He was baptized at the age of 30 by John the Baptist, and began to preach the gospel of the new covenant in the region of Galilee. About three years later, He died on the cross as a sin offering to atone for the sins of all humanity. The purpose of His coming to this earth was to give eternal life to people who were destined to die.[1] To accomplish this, He gave eternal life by establishing the New Covenant Passover.[2][3][4]
The Bible had prophesied Jesus’ birth and His accomplishments even before He came. In the same way, the Bible prophesies when, where, and for what purpose Christ comes a second time in this world.

When Jesus Comes a Second Time

Before the Last Judgment

Many Christians believe that Christ will come again on Judgment Day; they believe that when Jesus comes again, the world will be judged and God’s people will enter the kingdom of heaven. Contrary to their belief, Jesus taught that when He comes a second time, it is not Judgment Day but a time when Judgment is near.

“At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”

Luke 21:27–28

The “Son of Man” here is Jesus who comes in the future, so it must be Second Coming Jesus. The day when Jesus comes again in a cloud is not the day of redemption, but the time when redemption is drawing near. Moreover, “you” here refers to the saints who have already received Jesus and are in the truth. The redemption that the saints will receive is not the redemption they’ve received by promise in the truth, but the eternal redemption of coming out from the sinful world and entering the kingdom of heaven.[5] In other words, the time of redemption is Judgment Day when the saints enter the eternal kingdom of heaven and the wicked are destroyed.[6] Therefore, the time when Jesus comes a second time is not the day of redemption, Judgment Day, but a time when redemption is drawing near.
Jesus said that the last days would be the same as the time of Noah and that of Lot.[7][8] In the days of Noah, God let Noah and his family enter the ark before destroying the wicked world by the flood.[9] In the time of Lot, He let Lot and his family flee to Zoar before destroying Sodom and Gomorrah with fire.[10] When the Last Judgment is imminent, too, God will come again to teach the saints the truth of salvation in advance.

Parable of the Fig Tree

Israel’s declaration of independence in 1948

Jesus prophesied a specific time of His second coming through the parable of the fig tree.

“They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other. "Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door.”

Matthew 24:30–33

In the Bible, the fig tree represents Israel.[11] Jesus prophesied the destruction of Israel through the withering of a fruitless fig tree.[12][13] In the parable above, the revival of the fig tree is a prophecy of Israel regaining its independence. At that time, Jesus is to come a second time and gather the elect. Israel was completely destroyed when Jerusalem fell to the Romans in 70 A.D. The Israelites, scattered all over the world without a state, miraculously rebuilt their country in 1948 about 1,900 years later.[14] This was a sign of the return of Christ.

How Jesus Comes a Second Time

Clouds symbolize the body

In the Bible, Jesus was prophesied to come a second time ”on the clouds.”

"At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.

Matthew 24:30–31

Most people who believe this prophecy imagine Jesus coming on the clouds in the sky. However, the clouds that Jesus comes on are not the physical clouds, but it means He will be born as a man. In the Bible, the person who has the body is likened to a cloud.[15][16] The Old Testament also prophesied that Jesus would come with the clouds about His first coming.

"In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence.

Daniel 7:13

However, Jesus did not come with the clouds in the sky. He was born as a man and preached the gospel of the kingdom. Christ, who comes again in the clouds, is also born into this world with the body which is likened to the clouds, and He gathers the elect by preaching the gospel.

Why Jesus Comes a Second Time

Salvation of Humankind

The reason Christ comes again in the flesh before the Last Judgment is that God’s people are in the situation where they cannot be saved. Through the parable of weeds, Jesus prophesied that the gospel of the kingdom would be sown on the earth and then lawlessness would be sown on top of it.[17] As prophesied, the gospel of the kingdom such as the New Covenant Passover and the Sabbath disappeared after the Apostolic Age, and the churches were filled with lawlessness like Sunday worship and Christmas, the birthday of the sun god. About this, Jesus prophesied that He would not find faith on the earth at His second coming.

“However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

Luke 18:8

In the 16th century, the religious reformers arose and pointed out the blatant misdeeds of the Roman Catholic Church. They cried out for a reformation and religious freedom. Up until this day, many religious leaders and scholars have studied and taught the Bible, but none of them have restored the truth of the new covenant that Jesus established. It is because only the Second Coming Christ is to completely restore the truth of the new covenant to lead humanity to salvation.[18]

[S]o Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

Hebrews 9:28

Where Jesus Comes a Second Time

Apostle John wrote the book of Revelation on the island of Patmos.

From the East

Apostle John saw a revelation that the work of putting God’s seal would begin “from the east.”

After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree. Then I saw another angel coming up from the east, having the seal of the living God. He called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea: "Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God."

Revelation 7:1–3

The seal of God is a sign through which people can escape the great disasters that will take place in the last days, and receive salvation. This seal refers to the Passover. At the time of the Exodus, the Israelites kept the Passover and escaped the last disaster; by doing that, they were released from Egypt and entered the land of Canaan.[19] Even in this age, the Passover is the seal of salvation. Those who eat the Passover bread and drink the Passover wine, which represent Jesus’ flesh and blood, receive the mark with which they can be saved from the last disaster and enter the kingdom of heaven.[20]
The fact that the work of God’s sealing begins from the east means that Christ comes from the east with the Passover at His second coming. That is why the same signs are to take place prior to God’s sealing work and His second coming.[21][22]

Korea Where the Passover Has Appeared

The place where Apostle John saw the revelation was the island of Patmos in the Mediterranean Sea. The east from the Patmos Island is the Republic of Korea (hereinafter referred to as Korea), the farthest land of the east. Among many countries in the east from Israel, Korea is the country of prophecy; because the Passover of the new covenant, which disappeared through the Council of Nicaea in 325, has restored from that country.

On this mountain the LORD Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine—the best of meats and the finest of wines. On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; he will swallow up death forever. . . . In that day they will say, "Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the LORD, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation."

Isaiah 25:6–9

The wine that destroys death forever and gives eternal life, is the wine of the New Covenant Passover.[23][24] The “aged wine” implies that the Passover has not been celebrated for a long period of time of 1,600 years. Only God, Second Coming Christ, restores the Passover. Since the work of putting the seal of God, namely, the Passover, began from Korea, Korea is the country where Christ comes a second time to begin the work of salvation.

Name of Second Coming Jesus

New name

Before Jesus ascended to heaven, He said to His disciples, "Baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you.”[25] God the Father’s name is Jehovah, and God the Son’s name is Jesus. God the Holy Spirit, too, has a name. Regarding the name of the Holy Spirit, Apostle John wrote it as "a new name on a white stone.”

“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to him who receives it.”

Revelation 2:17

The “white stone with a new name written on it” represents Jesus.[26] This means that Jesus comes a second time with a new name.
God carries out the work of redemption through the ages in the name of the Father, Jehovah, of the Son, Jesus, and of the Holy Spirit.[27] In the age of the Father when God worked in the name of Jehovah, those who believed in Jehovah as their Savior and called on His name were saved.[28] However, 2,000 years ago, God came to the earth in the name of Jesus, and so those who believe in Jesus as their Savior were blessed.[29] Christ is to come in a new name, which is the name of the Holy Spirit. In this age, those who accept this new name as Savior will be blessed with salvation.

Sign of Second Coming Christ

The Bible

Jesus testifies that He is the Christ through the Bible.

Jesus prophesied that false Christs and false prophets would perform miracles to deceive many people at His second time;[30] and Apostle Paul and Apostle John wrote the same prophecy.[31][32] The only way to recognize Second Coming Christ is through the Bible.

“You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me.”

John 5:39

Jesus testified that He is the Christ through the prophecies in the Bible.[33] The saints of the early Church, who believed in Jesus, too testified that Jesus is the Christ through the Bible;[34][35] because we can recognize Christ only through the Bible.

Truth of Salvation

Unlike false Christs and false prophets, Second Coming Christ does not perform signs and wonders to attract people, but teaches the way of truth in Zion and leads people to salvation.

In the last days the mountain of the LORD's temple [Mount Zion] will be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and peoples will stream to it. Many nations will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths.” The law will go out from Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

Micah 4:1–2

Zion is a place where the feasts are celebrated,[36] namely, the church that keeps the feasts of God, the seven feast in three times, including the Passover and the Sabbath. Second Coming Christ teaches the law of truth in this place. He who establishes the church that keeps the feasts of God and teaches the truth of the Bible, is the Second Coming Christ prophesied in the Bible.

Second Coming Christ Ahnsahnghong

Christ Ahnsahnghong has fulfilled all the prophecies of the Bible about the Second Coming Christ. He was born in Korea which is located in the farthest corner in the east in 1918. He was baptized in 1948 when he was 30 years old and preached the gospel of the new covenant. In 1964, He established the Church of God by restoring all the truths of the early Church, including the Passover.[37]

Fulfillment of the Prophecy About David

In the Old Testament times, the prophet Hosea prophesied about David who would appear in the last days.[38] The prophet Jeremiah and the prophet Ezekiel wrote that King David would rise up, break the yoke of Babylon, and restore the home country of Israel.[39][40] They wrote these prophecies during Babylonian captivity, so King David had already died. These prophecies are about the Messiah who would come as David.[41]
In the New Testament times, Apostle John saw the revelation of the Root of David opening the book of God, which was sealed with seven seals.

Then I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll with writing on both sides and sealed with seven seals. And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, “Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?” But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look inside it Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals."

Revelation 5:1–5

This revelation is a prophecy about the disappearance of the truth of salvation, which Jesus taught 2,000 years ago. However, the sealed book is opened through the Root of David. The Root of David is Jesus.[42] Jesus is to come to the earth a second time and restore the truth of the new covenant, which was lost in the Dark Ages.
The prophecies of the Bible in the Old and New Testaments show that the spiritual David will appear in the last days as the Savior and will deliver God’s people, who are captives to the spiritual Babylon because there is no truth in the world. This spiritual David is the Second Coming Christ. According to the prophecy about the Root of David, Christ Ahnsahnghong has restored the truth of the new covenant that Jesus established 2,000 years ago.

Fulfillment of the Prophecy of Melchizedek

Melchizedek blesses Abraham through bread and wine.

Melchizedek is a unique priest who appears in the book of Genesis. In the time when the priests blessed people with animal sacrifices, Melchizedek blessed Abraham with bread and wine.[43] Jesus was prophesied to be the “high priest in the order of Melchizedek.”[44] As prophesied, Jesus blessed people with eternal life through the bread and wine of the New Covenant Passover.[45] However, Apostle Paul said he had much to say about Melchizedek, but it was hard to explain.[46] It was because Melchizedek was a priest without a father, a mother, nor genealogy.

This Melchizedek was king of Salem and priest of God Most High. . . . Without father or mother, without genealogy, without beginning of days or end of life, like the Son of God he remains a priest forever.

Hebrews 7:1–3

The prophecy about Melchizedek showed that God would be born in a Gentile nation and give eternal life through the Passover. This would be completely fulfilled by Second Coming Christ. Christ Ahnsahnghong has fulfilled the prophecies about Melchizedek by restoring the New Covenant Passover and being born in Korea, not in Israel.[47]

Fulfillment of the Prophecy About Elijah

Elijah was a prophet of northern Israel when the nation of Israel was divided into two kingdoms. In order to turn the hearts of the Israelites who fell into idolatry to God in the days of King Ahab, Elijah restored the altar of God and confronted the 850 false prophets all alone.[48]
The prophet Malachi prophesied that a man with the mission of Elijah would appear before the great and dreadful day of the LORD, which is the Last Judgment. Since there is no one who has faith to be saved in the world,[49] the prophetic Elijah restores the truth and turns the hearts of people to God.[50] Elijah has another mission to prepare the way for the Savior who comes later.[51] Two thousand years ago, John the Baptist fulfilled the mission of Elijah as a prophet who prepared the way for Jesus.[52]
In this age, Christ Ahnsahnghong has fulfilled the mission of Elijah. Christ Ahnsahnghong has restored the truth of God, which was destroyed after the Apostolic Age, and He has turned the hearts of God’s children to God. He has also proclaimed God the Mother, the Savior who comes after Him. Like this, the prophecies of the Bible consistently show that Christ Ahnsahnghong is the Second Coming Jesus.
