Christ is the Greek word for “Messiah,”[1] meaning “the anointed one.” It refers to God who came in the flesh for the salvation of humankind. In the Bible, which testifies about the Savior,[2] are the prophecies about Christ who comes to this earth. According to the prophecies, Jesus appeared 2,000 years ago as the Christ. Through His precious blood shed on the cross, Jesus Christ established the new covenant and granted the forgiveness of sins and eternal life to all people. After the Apostolic Age, however, the truth of the new covenant disappeared as the church went through secularization and the Dark Ages. The Bible prophesies the appearance of Second Coming Christ, who will restore the new covenant and open the way to salvation again.

Meaning of Christ

  • The Anointed One

“Christ” (Chrīstós, Greek: Χριστός) is a word that means “the anointed one,” and it comes from the Greek verb chríō (χρίω), which means “to smear or rub with oil.”[3] It is the same word as Messiah (Hebrew: מָשִׁיחַ, Aramaic: מְשִׁיחָא). To be anointed means to be set apart as one to carry out the special work of God. In the Old Testament times, kings,[4][5][6] priests,[7][8] and prophets[9] were mostly anointed.
  • Messiah (Savior)
To the Jews, the title Christ was regarded as “the one who will save Israel,” in addition to its apparent meaning, “the anointed one.” It is because the Old Testament prophesied that the anointed one (the Messiah) would come as the Savior.[10][11] This prophecy was fulfilled through Jesus who came in the flesh. Today, Christ is used as a word for Jesus.[12]

Israel Before Christ’s Coming

Israel was located at a strategic point where many civilizations intersected and the interests of neighboring countries conflicted. Since it was a small country, it suffered many invasions from other countries such as Egypt, Assyria, and Babylon (New Babylonia) for a long time. For this reason, it is called the “afflicted nation.”[13] Around 4 BC, which is presumed by historians to be the time when Jesus was born, Israel was suffering from heavy taxes, tyranny, and oppression under Roman authority.[14] With a strong belief that they were the “chosen people” of God, the Jews practiced Messianism, which was a belief that the LORD God would send them the Messiah, the Savior who would save them.[15] Israel dreamed of a strong political messiah who would lead them out of Roman oppression.[16] In this situation, Jesus Christ appeared according to the prophecies in the Bible.

The Purpose of Christ’s Coming: Proclamation of the New Covenant

Christ, who was prophesied in the Old Testament, did not appear for the physical liberation of the Jews, but for the spiritual liberation and salvation of all mankind. Humans are sinners who sinned in the kingdom of heaven and came to this earth.[17][18][19] Because the wages of sin is death,[20] no one can be freed from sin on their own; salvation becomes impossible once one pays the price of his or her sin through death. This is why God Himself came in human form to pay for the sins of mankind.[21][22]

According to the prophecy of King David’s throne, Jesus preached the gospel of the kingdom for the salvation of mankind after being baptized at the age of thirty.[23][24] He set an example of keeping the feasts of God, including the Sabbath, and taught them.[25][26] While keeping the Passover with His disciples at the end of His public life, which lasted for about three years, He proclaimed the new covenant by giving His flesh and blood through the Passover bread and wine.[27] The next day, Jesus confirmed the new covenant by shedding His blood and dying on the cross.[28] At the same time, He opened the way for the complete forgiveness of sins by sacrificing Himself as a sin offering for mankind.[22][29] The new covenant fulfilled through the death of Jesus, was the only truth of salvation given to mankind, who was destined to die because of their sins.

Bible Prophecies and Their Fulfillment

The Bible is a book that testifies about the Savior[2] and records prophecies about Christ who is to come. Jesus Christ lived according to the prophecies of the Old Testament, which include His birth, suffering on the cross, resurrection, and ascension. The works of Jesus are proof that Jesus is the true Christ (God) prophesied in the Bible.

The Jews and the religious leaders, however, did not recognize Jesus as the Christ. It was because Jesus’ appearance was far from the image of the Messiah they had expected.[53] Every aspect of Jesus, including His ordinary appearance, occupation, and physical family, became a cause for their rejection of Him. What they did not realize was that this was a fulfillment of the prophecy of Isaiah that Christ was like a root out of dry ground and would have nothing in His appearance that we should desire Him.[54]

The Jews, who only looked at Jesus from the physical perspective, tried to stone Him,[55] saying, “How can you, a mere man, claim to be God?” and they crucified the Messiah they had desperately longed for.[42] On the contrary, those who received Jesus believed and followed Him through the prophecies of the Bible. Apostle John, who was one of Jesus’ twelve disciples, wrote that God, who existed from the beginning, dwelled with us in the flesh;[56] and Apostle Paul wrote that Jesus is God in nature even though He came as a man.[57]

Second Coming Christ

The Bible prophesies that Christ will come a second time in the flesh just as He did 2,000 years ago.

The Dark Ages and the Reformation

After Jesus’ ascension, the early Church went beyond Israel and preached the gospel of Jesus Christ in Asia and Europe; however, around the end of the Apostolic Age, the Church became secularized, and the truth of the new covenant started to change little by little.[58] Abandoning the Sabbath, some churches began to keep worship on Sunday, and Sunday worship was established in AD 321.[59] In AD 325, the Passover was abolished at the Council of Nicaea.[60] The place where the truth disappeared was filled with pagan idols such as the cross and doctrines that are not based on the Bible such as Christmas.[61] Through the Dark Ages, the truth of the new covenant, which Jesus taught and kept, completely disappeared.

In the 16th century, the Reformation took place, and religious reformers such as Luther, Calvin, and Zwingli achieved freedom of faith against the corruption and irrational doctrines of the Roman Catholic Church. Since then, many Protestant churches were established, but no one was able to restore the truth of the new covenant. Even though the world is filled with numerous denominations, the truth of the new covenant that Jesus established cannot be found. This is in accordance with what Jesus prophesied 2,000 years ago in which He said that no true faith would be found when He comes again.[62]

Recovery of the New Covenant

The Bible says that those who forsake God’s commandments and keep rules taught by men will lose wisdom and understanding and the whole vision of God will be nothing but words sealed in a scroll to them.[63] After the Apostolic Age, the truth of the new covenant disappeared, and the commands of men such as Sunday worship and Christmas became widespread in the church. This means that the Bible, which contains the revelations of God, became sealed to all people in the world. Only the Root of David, Second Coming Jesus, can open the sealed Bible and give salvation.[64] It means that Christ must appear a second time for the salvation of mankind.

Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

The Bible says that Christ, who is to come again for the salvation of mankind, will restore the Passover, the core truth of the new covenant.

On this mountain the LORD Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine . . . he will swallow up death forever. . . . In that day they will say, “Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the LORD, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.”

Isaiah 25:6–9


In this verse, there are two main points about the wine: It is aged wine and God will swallow up death forever with it. Swallowing up death forever means giving eternal life. The only wine that has the promise of eternal life in the Bible is the wine of the Holy Supper of the Passover. [50][65] It is aged wine because the Passover of the new covenant was abolished in AD 325 and was not kept for roughly 1,600 years. According to the prophecy, the One who restores the New Covenant Passover is Second Coming Christ.

Bible Prophecies and Their Fulfillment

The Bible foretold Jesus’ work in advance even before His birth. It also prophesies when, where, and with what kind of appearance and signs Second Coming Christ will appear.

Name Jesus’ New Name The name of Second Coming Christ is the new name of Jesus.[75][76] The name of the Savior exists in each age[77]—the Age of the Father, the Age of the Son, and the Age of the Holy Spirit; the name of the Savior is Jehovah in the Age of the Father, and Jesus in the Age of the Son, and Jesus’ new name in the Age of the Holy Spirit.
Sign New Covenant Passover The Bible testifies that it is Second Coming Christ who will restore the New Covenant Passover.[78]
Prophetic Character David[79] David, the second king of Israel, sat on the throne at the age of 30 and reigned for 40 years.[80] As the spiritual King David, Jesus was baptized at the age of 30 and carried out the gospel ministry for three years.[23][48] To complete King David’s 40-year reign, Christ must come a second time and complete the gospel ministry for the remaining 37 years.
Melchizedek Apostle Paul said that Melchizedek was a priest without father or mother, genealogy, or beginning of days or the end of life.[81] This will be completely fulfilled through Second Coming Christ. Being without father or mother means that God will come from a family that does not believe in God;[82] and being without genealogy means that He will be born in a Gentile country and have no genealogy in Israel. He must also bring bread and wine, which is the symbol of Melchizedek.[83] The reality to the bread and wine is the New Covenant Passover.
Elijah There are two missions of Elijah prophesied in the Bible. One is to turn the hearts of the people who have fallen into idolatry back to God, and the other is to prepare the way for the Savior who is to come after him.[84][85] Two thousand years ago, John the Baptist came as the prophet who prepared the way for Jesus and partially fulfilled the mission of Elijah.[86][87] In the Age of the Holy Spirit, Second Coming Christ will appear as Elijah, restore the truth, and make known God the Mother, the Savior who is to come after Him.

Christ Ahnsahnghong is Second Coming Christ who restored the truth of the new covenant for the salvation of humankind according to the prophecies of the Bible. Christ Ahnsahnghong fulfilled all the prophecies of the Bible, including the time and place of Jesus’ second coming. According to the prophecy of the fig tree and the prophecy of King David, He was baptized at the age of 30 in 1948 and began to preach the gospel. In 1985, He went back to heaven after finishing His 37-year-long gospel work. Four years before His death, He made known through the media that Second Coming Christ should die according to the prophecy of King David’s throne.[88] He also restored the Passover, which is the seal of God, in the country in the east (Republic of Korea). He completely restored the truth of the new covenant and rebuilt the Church of God in the original form of the early Church. He fulfilled the mission of Elijah by turning the hearts of God’s children to God through His work of restoring the ruined truth of God and proclaiming the Savior, God the Mother, who would come after Him.
