Features
The Church of God training facilities such as the Jounyisan Training Institute, the Elohim Training Institute, and the Okcheon Go&Come Training Institute were established in the Chungcheong Province, which is geographically located in the middle of Korea, for the accessibility of the members nationwide. As churches were quickly established around the world and the number of overseas members visiting Korea increased, the need for training facilities in the metropolitan area near Incheon International Airport and the Headquarters of the Church of God (located in Bundang, Gyeonggi) grew, and a training institute was established in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province in 2011.[1]
Giheung-gu, Yongin-si, where the training institute is located, is an area where high-tech industries such as IT and semiconductors are actively carried out, and there are various attractions such as the Korean Folk Village and Nam June Paik Art Center, where people from around the world can discover both Korea’s advancements and its traditional beauty.
During the opening service, General Pastor Kim Joo-cheol said, “Dongbaek Training Institute will become the birthplace of the gospel and the institute of the truth, where we can learn and practice the will of God the Father and God the Mother. I hope that everyone who visits this Institute will embrace the heart of God, who has compassion for the world, and become prophets who serve others and save the world.”[2]
The main building of the Dongbaek Training Institute has four floors above ground and two basement floors. There is also an annex with three floors above ground that can be used for various purposes. Since it is a place where overseas members who visit Korea stay, it features a stylish and antique appearance. It can accommodate 250 members at once, and the facility is equipped with an ondol (Korean-style) boiler. Through this, overseas members can learn not only traditional Korean culture but also the wisdom of Koreans to keep the whole room warm.[3] After its opening, it primarily served as an educational center for visiting groups from overseas and was also used for gatherings of Korean pastoral staff and young adults' education.
