Illustration of Revelation 22:17 (KJV), the prophecy about the Spirit and the Bride, by Joseph Martin Kronheim, 1880

The Spirit and the Bride are mentioned in the last chapter of the book of Revelation as the Ones who give the water of life. Although the Spirit is understood as God, many churches interpret the Bride as the church or the saints. However, only God can give the water of life to mankind. The bride who gives the water of life together with the Spirit is God the Mother. She appears alongside God the Father and gives salvation to mankind in the last days.

God Gives Us the Water of Life

Jesus said that He would give the Samaritan woman, whom He met at the well, the water of life so that she would never thirst. (Paolo Veronese, 1585)

The Spirit and the Bride are found in the last chapter of the Bible.

The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life."

Revelation 22:17

The water of life indicates the word of God, which is essential to nourish the soul. Only God can give this water of life.

God divided the period of His redemption work into three ages: Age of the Father, Age of the Son, and Age of the Holy Spirit.[1] In the Age of the Father, God Jehovah gave the water of life; and in the Age of the Son, Jesus gave the water of life. There is no record in the Bible that says prophets or saints can give the water of life. Regardless of the age, only God, the Savior, can give the water of life. In Revelation 21, it says God gives the water of life freely to those who are thirsty;[2] and in chapter 22, it says the Spirit and the Bride give the water of life freely. This means that the Spirit and the Bride who give the water of life are God, the Saviors who will appear in the Age of the Holy Spirit.[3]

Age of the Father Age of the Son Age of the Holy Spirit
Jeremiah 17:13
They have forsaken the LORD,

the spring of living water.

John 4:14
“The water I give him will become in him

a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

Revelation 22:17
The Spirit and the bride say, . . .

take the free gift of the water of life.

Jehovah Jesus Spirit and Bride

The Spirit and the Bride Are the Lamb and His Wife

The Holy Spirit Is Second Coming Christ

According to the Trinity, the Holy Spirit is God the Father. In the New Testament, it refers to Second Coming Jesus who is the Savior in the Age of the Holy Spirit.

In Revelation 19, there is a prophecy that the Lamb and His bride will hold the heavenly wedding banquet in the last days.

“Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.” . . . “ ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!’”

Revelation 19:7–9

At the heavenly wedding banquet, the Lamb appears as the bridegroom and the Lamb’s wife as the bride. The Lamb refers to Jesus;[4] however, when He came 2,000 years ago, the bride did not appear. In Revelation 19, the Lamb who appears with the bride refers to Jesus who comes again.

In Revelation 22:17, the One who appears with the bride and invites the saints, saying, “Come,” is the Holy Spirit.

The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.

Revelation 22:17

In this prophecy, the Holy Spirit is Christ who comes a second time in the last days and God the Father who gives the water of life.

The Bride Is Jerusalem Mother

The One who appears as the “bride” of the Holy Spirit in Revelation 22:17 and as the “bride of the Lamb” in Revelation 19 is God the Mother who appears in the last days.

One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.

Revelation 21:9–10

When the angel showed Apostle John the bride, the wife of the Lamb, he saw the Holy City Jerusalem in heaven. In other words, the bride is represented as the heavenly Jerusalem. Apostle Paul said that the “heavenly Jerusalem” is “our Mother.”

But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.

Galatians 4:26

“Our” refers to those who will be saved. The saints can receive salvation, the water of life, by believing in God the Mother as well as God the Father.

The Spirit and the Bride Were Prophesied Since the Creation of the World

The Creation of Eve by Gustave Doré.

The Spirit and the Bride, God the Father and God the Mother, can be found since the creation of the world.

Male and Female Were Created in the Image of God

God created the heavens and the earth for six days and rested on the seventh day. On the sixth day, God made male and female.

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

Genesis 1:26–27

Male and female were created in the image and likeness of God who said “us.” This means that God exists as a male image and a female image as well. God who created all things is two: God the Father and God the Mother.

Until today, those who believe in God have only viewed God as a male image and called Him “Father.” Jesus too taught that God is the Father of our souls.[5] Through the Bible, we can see that there is not only the male image of God but also the female image of God, whom we should acknowledge as God the Mother.[6]

Adam and Eve

The first male and female who were created in the image of God were Adam and Eve. Adam, who was made in the male image of God, represents God the Father.

Adam, who was a pattern of the one to come.

Romans 5:14

Eve, who is made in the female image of God, is Adam’s wife and represents God the Mother.

Adam named his wife Eve, because she would become the mother of all the living.

Genesis 3:20

Adam named his wife "Eve" (חַוָּה), which means life, and said that she was the “mother of all the living.” The name "Eve" has a prophetic meaning, and she represents God the Mother who gives life to all mankind.

The creation of Adam and Eve[7] before God's rest on the seventh day is a prophecy that Second Coming Christ, who is represented by Adam, and God the Mother, who is represented by Eve, will appear to all mankind when the eternal rest is near. In other words, in Revelation 22:17, the Spirit and the Bride who give the water of life are the prophetic Adam and Eve who will appear in the last days.[8]

The Spirit and the Bride Come in Human Form

Comparatively, as Jesus came in the flesh 2,000 years ago to bring salvation, the Spirit and the Bride appear in human form and give the water of life, that is, salvation.

Isn't the Bride an Actual City?

Some say that the bride does not refer to God the Mother, but the actual city coming down out of heaven.[9] If this insistence were correct, the Spirit described as the “Lamb” in Revelation 19 and 21 should be an actual lamb. The bridegroom at the heavenly wedding banquet is described as a lamb, but it is not an actual animal. Likewise, the bride, who is described as the city, heavenly Jerusalem, is not an actual city.

Jesus Gave the Water of Life

Two thousand years ago, Jesus likened the salvation of saints and entering the kingdom of heaven to attending a wedding banquet. The bridegroom invites the guests to the wedding banquet.[10] The bridegroom in the parable represents Jesus. He invited the saints to the heavenly wedding banquet, saying, “Come to Me,” to give the water of life to those who were thirsty. [11] Jesus, who said to the saints, “Come,” appeared in human form. The key point of the parable of the heavenly wedding banquet is that the Savior will come to the earth in the flesh and invite the saints to the wedding banquet to give them the water of life.

The Spirit and the Bride Give the Water of Life

The book of Revelation gives records about what will take place in the last days. The Spirit and the Bride invite the saints to the wedding banquet and give them the water of life.[12][13] They are God the Father and God the Mother, who come in the flesh as Saviors in the last days. Just as Jesus came into this world in human form and gave the water of life 2,000 years ago, the Spirit and the Bride appear together in human form as the Saviors in the last days and give the water of life.
