Features

Sujeong-gu, Seongnam-si, where the New Jerusalem Siheung Temple is located, enjoys a geographic advantage due to its proximity to Seoul. With ongoing residential development and road construction, the local population continues to grow. The area is home to several public institutions, including the Korea Expressway Corporation Traffic Center, the Korea Water Resources Corporation Southeast Gyeonggi Branch, Sejong Institute, the National Archives of Korea, and Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), as well as Seoul Air Base, which is a Republic of Korea Air Force facility. The Tancheon Stream flows through the central part of the district, and the nearby Tancheon Freshwater Fish Wetland Ecological Garden has become a popular healing space for local residents.

The New Jerusalem Siheung Temple features a European-style exterior and is equipped with a variety of facilities. It is located near both the Head Office of the Church of God and the New Jerusalem Pangyo Temple, providing lodging and educational centers for overseas members visiting from around the world. During the dedication service, which was held in conjunction with the first Sabbath worship service of the year 2009, General Pastor Kim Joo-cheol stated: “This will be a place of grace where nations of the world gather to give glory and worship to God.”[1]

Church members are actively engaged in various efforts to make the Church a warm resting place for the local community. They donate daily necessities and groceries to local governments to help neighbors in need, fostering a family-like bond. They also invite local seniors to the Church for cultural events and provide free haircuts and grooming services as acts of respect and care for the elderly.[2][3] Through environmental cleanup activities, they help maintain a pleasant environment in the Siheung-dong area and along the Tancheon Stream.[4][5] In addition, together with other Churches in the Seongnam area, they have led blood drives, spreading a positive influence in the community.[6]
