The New Jerusalem Imae Temple is the Church of God established in Imae-dong, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, Republic of Korea (hereinafter referred to as Korea). On September 27, 2000, the dedication service was held for the Imae Temple. A dedication service is a special service that is held when a new temple is established. The purpose of the service is to give thanks to God for a new location and dedicate the temple to God as an offering. Until the New Jerusalem Pangyo Temple was established in 2016, the Imae Temple served as the representative church for the Church of God, and its official name was the New Jerusalem Temple. The main building of the New Jerusalem Imae Temple is an elegant marble building with the same length, width, and height. Surrounding the main building are various auxiliary facilities such as an annex, an additional fellowship room, parking lots, and European-style accommodations for overseas members. In addition to the launching of the overseas mission that began in the early 2000s, this place is filled with the gospel history of the Church of God. It has functioned as a comfortable haven and the cradle of the search for truth for overseas members who visit Korea, and a place for holding worship services. It has also served as an open space for neighbors. It is close to the Headquarters located in Sunae-dong, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, and the Dongbaek Training Institute located in Yongin-si.

The New Jerusalem Imae Temple was established as a place to inspire faith and enthusiasm for the global gospel mission, and provide a gospel vision that fits each member’s abilities and talents.

  • The prayer worship for the new year’s blessings was held here several times. The worship was held to bring in a more hopeful new year with God’s grace and blessings, reflecting on the past year. The members who attended the worship service reaffirmed their commitment to the gospel, wishing happiness for their families and peace for the whole world, and prayed for their wishes for the new year to come true.[1][2][3]
  • The Launching Ceremonies of the Overseas Short-term Mission Teams, of the Cultural Experience Teams, and the Overseas Mission Reports were held here. At the launching ceremonies, the members prayed to God for the power of the Holy Spirit, reconfirming their commitment as prophets being sent to each country. After carrying out the missions, the report meetings were held to understand the present situation of the gospel work around the world, share good examples of the work taking place, and discuss the next steps for the mission.[4][5][6][7]
  • A Bible seminar that was planned and hosted by young adult members was held. For the seminar, they used sources such as the Bible, media reports, research reports, statistics, photos, and videos to create the presentations. The seminar had three themes: “Feminism and God the Mother,” “The Necessity of Mother, a Peacemaker of the Earth,” and “The World Is Changing Thanks to Mother.” Not only the members of the Church of God, but also people from all walks of life, including families, neighbors, and acquaintances attended and were able to confirm the existence of God the Mother.[8][9][10]
  • Award ceremonies were held for various contests such as the Melchizedek Literary Awards Ceremony, the New Jerusalem Cultural Content Awards, and the Internet Website Contest. Every year, the Church of God holds contests with writing, video, and presentation categories to strengthen the faith of the members and discover and cultivate talents who can deliver God’s love and truth to 7.8 billion people. Participants who gain confidence and a sense of duty through the awards ceremony use their talents such as writing, video editing, and web design for the gospel around the world.[11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20]
  • For the members who work for the literature mission, the Education for Regional Journalists was held. The members learned how to write articles, based on factuality, objectivity, credibility, and timeliness. They expressed their will to display God’s glory through writing and put more effort into the gospel mission. Since its inception in 2004, the regional journalists group, consisting of Melchizedek Award winners and members with a mission to preach the gospel, has been preaching the gospel throughout the country.[21][22]

The New Jerusalem Imae Temple has been a home filled with love for members from all over the world who visit Korea, and the birthplace of the gospel of the new covenant in this age. Now, there are multi-ethnic, multi-racial, and multi-cultural members in the Church of God in over 7,500 locations in 175 countries. Since the overseas mission began in 1997, members from all over the world have visited Korea through the Overseas Visiting Group program, which started in the early 2000s. Until the COVID-19 pandemic began, a total of 75 visiting groups had come to Korea to learn the words of the Bible and experience Mother’s love. During their visit to Korea, they studied the truth of the new covenant in-depth, staying in the dormitory of the Overseas Visiting Group, which is located next to the New Jerusalem Imae Temple, and visiting the Head Office and the training institutes. After spending meaningful time in Korea, the members returned to their home countries and are taking the lead in preaching the gospel, spreading the love of God the Father and God the Mother.[23][24][25][26][27][28]

A Place of Community-Building with Family and Neighbors

Various events have been held at the New Jerusalem Imae Temple to support the dreams of youth and promote family’s happiness and neighborly harmony. The church opened a place for community-building for families and neighbors through Character Education for Youths, “Our Mother” Writing and Photo Exhibition, Messiah Orchestra Concert, and the Seminars for Workers. These events have brought joy to the members and citizens, touching their hearts.

  • The Education for Pre-Young Adults 2013 was held (Nov. 10, 2013) to encourage seniors in high school who were anxious about their future and help them establish good values. Distinguished scholars from Korea and abroad, such as Miguel Carlos, a Professor at Sanchez Carrion National University in Lima, Peru, offered guidance to the students, using themes related to their majors.[29][30]
  • The “Our Mother” Writing and Photo Exhibition was held with the hope of bringing comfort to people through mothers’ love and sacrifice and creating harmony and happiness among family members. Many visitors, including residents, political groups, and media outlets, were greatly moved after visiting the exhibition.[31]
  • The Character Education for Youths and Parents was held (Jan. 25, 2015) at the Imae Temple. Heo Ui-do, the secretary-general of the Korea Communications Standards Commission, gave a lecture on the topic “Writing and Netiquette in the Digital Era” and provided a concrete plan so that teenagers, who are easily exposed to unhealthy online content and school violence, can grow up with a good character and virtues.[32]
  • The Wind Ensemble for Youths (Feb. 23, 2011) and the Student Orchestra Tour Concert (Feb. 19, 2012; Jan. 20, 2013) were held here. These events were held by the members of the Church of God Student Orchestra to comfort students of their ages. They presented beautiful melodies to those who were suffering from various types of stress from studies, finding their career path, and maintaining friendships with their peers. Parents, teachers, and professionals from education, politics, and music also encouraged the students by attending the event.[33][34][35][36][37]
  • The Messiah Orchestra Regular Concert (Nov. 29, 2009) and the Happy Concert With Mother’s Heart (Sept. 20, 2015) were held. The purpose of the events was to restore human relationships that were falling apart due to the lack of communication between family members and neighbors, and provide rest and happiness through music to those who were weary from their busy lives.[38][39]
  • The 13th Happy Seminar for Workers was held (Sept. 1, 2019) by young adults of the Church of God. More than 1,000 people attended the event to comfort hard-working individuals in today’s society. Fruitful programs such as concerts and other events filled the hearts of the participants with joy and happiness.[40]
  • Consolatory Party for Neighbors was held (Sept. 3, 2014; Sept. 9, 2015) for the senior citizens and residents in the jurisdiction to resolve the ever-deepening individualism with God’s love, and bring vitality and joy to their neighbors. More than 600 people, including senior citizens, residents, and local government officials, participated in the event. They also shared neighborly love through free haircut services, cultural events, and other activities.[41][42]
  • Pastoral staff and members visited the senior citizen center and held a Consolatory Party for Senior Citizens (Feb. 14, 2003). The members prepared and served food wholeheartedly, bringing joy and comfort to the senior citizens in the neighborhood.[43]

The members of the New Jerusalem Imae Temple are taking the lead in improving public welfare by taking care of their neighbors and communities, practicing the Teachings of Mother and the love of Christ.

  • They make efforts to create a pleasant environment around the church by cleaning nearby residential areas, around Imae Subway Station, the Imae Stream, and the sides of roads and hills near the church.[44][45][46][47]
  • Although the problem of blood shortage is an increasing concern in society, the number of people donating blood is decreasing every year.[48][49] The members are making efforts to save lives by carrying out large-scale blood drives together with local churches in Seongnam to help their neighbors in need of blood transfusions due to diseases and accidents.[50]
  • When national holidays come, the members donate daily necessities and groceries to local governments to share love and give hope to their neighbors who are feeling lonely and in need.[51][52]
  • They deliver care packages with gratitude to the garbage collectors, firefighters, and police officers who make efforts to protect citizens day and night.[53][54][55]
