Features
Germany experienced a turbulent history in the early to mid-20th century, including World Wars I and II, the division of East and West, and the devastation of its land. However, following the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, the country was reunified. Today, Berlin, a city that still carries traces of its painful past, has become a symbol of freedom and peace.
The members of the Church of God in Berlin diligently preach the gospel of the new covenant, hoping that citizens who value freedom and peace will gain true spiritual freedom. As more people want to enjoy peace in God’s love, the Church of God in Berlin continues to grow steadily.
A missionary who was present at the founding of the Church of God in Berlin attributes its growth to the “love of Mother.” Local members who traveled to Korea as part of the Overseas Culture Experience Group personally experienced God the Mother’s love, which strengthened their faith in the truth of the gospel.[1][2] At the “Arise & Shine Global Bible Seminar 2019” in Korea, Philipp Ponglinski, a lawyer and member of the Church of God in Berlin, delivered a presentation titled “Law vs. Law.” He explained, “While ancient laws such as the Code of Hammurabi and the Tang Code imposed punishments proportional to crimes, the new covenant established by Christ’s sacrifice is centered on love and forgiveness rather than retribution.” Through this, he shared his realization of God’s love.[3] Inspired by God the Mother’s love, the members engraved this love in their hearts and are committed to preaching the gospel not only in Berlin but also in other cities. Germany’s central location in Europe, they are also dedicated to supporting missionary work across the continent.
The members actively engage in various volunteer activities to support the nation and local communities, ensuring that citizens can live safely and peacefully. To create a cleaner and more pleasant environment, they consistently carry out cleanup campaigns in high-traffic areas such as Alt-Mariendorf Station, Wilmersdorf Station, and Bundesplatz Square, as well as recreational spaces like Münzinger Park and Lindenufer Riverside Promenade. Additionally, they visit nursing homes, where they perform ensemble concerts featuring violin, cello, clarinet, piano, and trumpet. These performances provide comfort and appreciation to the elderly, who have dedicated their lives to their families and country.
Following the example of God’s love who values life, they regularly organize blood drives. Notably, they have held the Worldwide Blood Drive to Give Life Through the Love of the Passover multiple times at the Haema Blood and Plasma Donation Center in Gesundbrunnen, Berlin.
Leading up to the 127th blood drive, they actively promoted the event by holding small concerts at various hospitals for a month. On the day of the event, they launched a campaign encouraging more citizens to donate blood. Mr. Paulisch, Manager of Haema Blood Donation Center, expressed his gratitude, saying, “The Church of God has demonstrated true humanitarian love through this initiative.” Similarly, Dr. Martens shared his thoughts, “I could feel the sincerity of this blood drive. It felt almost like a festival.”[4]
