Features
Located on the North Island of New Zealand, Auckland has long been a central hub for the nation’s development and once served as the capital city for many years. Today, it remains New Zealand’s leading city in industry and education. As the site of an international airport, it functions as a major gateway for maritime and air traffic across the Pacific. The city is home to esteemed educational institutions such as the University of Auckland, along with numerous cultural facilities including the Auckland War Memorial Museum, the Museum of Transport and Technology, the New Zealand Maritime Museum, the Auckland Art Gallery, and a network of public libraries. It also boasts abundant tourist resources, including geothermal springs, lakes, and rare volcanic landscapes.
Beyond its national significance, Auckland plays a vital role as a strategic center for the gospel. It is the site where the 1st Church of God in New Zealand was established. Through the active missionary efforts of its members, churches have since been founded in other regions, including the capital city Wellington and Christchurch on the South Island. As increasing numbers of people in Auckland come to seek the truth of the Church of God, new churches have been successively established—most recently the 3rd Church of God in Auckland. Members of this church diligently share the blessing of salvation granted by God Elohim with their neighbors, spreading hope for a joyful future and peaceful daily life through a variety of volunteer efforts.
Cleanup activities were carried out at Rosedale Park, Highbrook Park, and nearby coastal areas, helping to ensure that citizens could enjoy their leisure time in clean and pleasant surroundings.[1][2] Volunteers also extended their efforts to urban living spaces, including the central business district, contributing to a healthier and more vibrant city environment. In addition, at forest reserves such as Auburn Reserve and Akoranga Reserve, volunteers removed weeds, fallen leaves, branches, and litter, helping to restore and preserve the natural landscape.[3][4] In 2018, responding to a request from the North Shore Ward, volunteers planted 800 trees at Titan Place Reserve, playing a key role in desertification prevention and leading initiatives in environmental conservation.[5]
The 3rd Church of God in Auckland also collaborates with the 1st Church of God in Auckland to host events for the community. One notable example is the blood drive, jointly organized by several Churches of God in the Auckland region. The blood donation events held by the Church of God play a valuable role in supporting patients in urgent need of transfusions and in promoting a positive perception of blood donation. Recognizing these efforts, the New Zealand Blood Service, which supported the event in 2016, presented a certificate of appreciation to the Church of God.[6] At the 2017 blood drive held at the 1st Church of God in Auckland, around 200 people, including members and local residents, participated, with more than 110 successful donors, helping to save lives and raise public awareness about the value of life.
