Features

Georgia is located in the southeastern United States. More than 60% of the land area is pastured and crops grow well due to the warm climate throughout the year. Since the 2000s, many Fortune 500 companies such as Kia Motors, SK Innovation Co., and Coca-Cola moved their headquarters or factories to various cities in the state of Georgia, which vitalized the state’s economy.[1] Atlanta, the capital of Georgia, is officially the largest metro area in the Southeast and is considered a transportation hub in the south. The city is home to the Downtown Connector, the concurrent section of two interstates that lead to the borders of Canada and Washington D.C., the capital of the U.S., as well as Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport,[2] which was selected as the busiest airport in terms of the number of passengers and planes in 2019.

The members of the Church of God in Atlanta have continued to grow and develop by diligently preaching the gospel of the new covenant and the love of God Elohim. In 2018, a new temple was established, and a dedication service was held the following year. A municipal representative from the City of Loganville attended the service and said, “I was quite surprised to see so many young people in the church because you don’t really see them in other denominations. Seeing all the efforts the Church of God has made for a clean environment, I’m confident that they will be a good example to many organizations and groups in this area.” The representative also congratulated the church for its dedication service.[3]

The members of the Church of God in Atlanta have been serving the community and their neighbors, following the example of Christ. They regularly clean the streets, parks, and rivers to create a pleasant environment in the community.[4] In August 2020, more than 130 members cleaned the Martin Luther King Jr. streets and removed graffiti to help communities suffering from a shortage of road management workers due to the spread of COVID-19.[5]

They also take the lead in helping neighbors in need. The members regularly carry out blood drives to help patients who are in critical situations due to blood shortages.[6] They visited a nursing home and repainted old benches and replaced old structures such as signs and sidewalk blocks so that the residents could live healthy and comfortable lives.[7]

ASEZ WAO, the young adult worker volunteer group of the Church of God, from all over the U.S. carried out the Heart-to-Heart Project to support the medical staff working hard on the front line of the pandemic. The Atlanta members also expressed their gratitude and support to the local medical staff by giving them care packages with snacks, face masks, and handwritten letters.[8]
