San Diego County, California, is the most southwestern city in the United States, bordering Tijuana, Mexico. Many soldiers reside there due to various military bases. Additionally, there are many tourist attractions such as Yosemite National Park and the San Diego Zoo.
The members of the Church of God in San Diego, CA, practice the love of Christ through diverse community service events. They take the lead in cleaning up rivers and parks to create a clean and pleasant area[1], and in even coordinating mega blood drives.[2]
They make efforts helping those who are vulnerable, ensuring that not even one soul is neglected. For example, they have donated socks to those in need and visited volunteer groups to help sort and package donated items. They have coordinated with local markets to donate 1,500 servings of foods such as pasta, rice, and vegetables to food banks.[3]
Furthermore, ASEZ, the Church of God University Student Volunteer Group, conducted a crime prevention campaign together with the Prosecutor's Office and local citizens in response to the rapid increase in hate crimes throughout San Diego County.[4]
In recognition of their dedication to their neighbors, communities, and nation, the church has received many awards, including a Proclamation from the City of Santee, CA, and a Certificate of Appreciation from the Mayor of Santee.[5][6][7][8][9][10] The Mayor of San Diego acknowledged the members’ efforts for enhancing the beauty of the environment and making a positive impact in their community, and proclaimed November 21, 2015, as “The World Mission Society Church of God Day.”[11]
