Colton, a small city in San Bernardino County, borders Riverside County in Southern California and has a population of approximately 50,000. The Santa Ana River, the largest river in California, flows through the city’s center, while Blue Mountain, a popular hiking destination, is also located here. Through the mission of the Church of God in Los Angeles, the gospel was preached in Colton, leading many people to receive God Elohim and observe the feasts of the new covenant, including the Passover. As the number of members steadily grew, the Church of God in Riverside was officially established in November 2014. Some members have also visited Korea through the Overseas Visiting Group program, where they gain inspiration in faith, experience Korean culture, and interact with members from around the world.[1]

Even before its official establishment, the Church of God in Riverside has been actively engaged in community service, following the example of God, who is love. Volunteers have dedicated themselves to cleaning and beautifying Washington Street, Colton Park, Elizabeth Davis Park, and the bike paths near the Gonzalez Community Center. They have also repainted worn-out park benches, contributing to a cleaner and more enjoyable environment for local residents.[2][3] In recognition of these efforts, Colton Municipality has partnered with the church, providing cleaning tools, paint, and refreshments to support their volunteer activities.

The members extend a helping hand to their neighbors, caring for them with the heart of Mother. They visit local nursing homes, bringing joy to the elderly through cultural performances featuring dance, choir, and instrumental music. As a gesture of respect and appreciation, they also present seniors with handmade picture frames and air fresheners. In addition to these efforts, the members actively work to save lives through blood drives.[4][5]

In March 2017, members from the Church of God in Riverside, Los Angeles, Sunland, Orange County, San Diego, and other locations gathered for a blood donation drive, with over 300 participants. In March 2020, ASEZ, the University Student Volunteer Group, delivered 300 handmade face masks to the Riverside Police Department, along with a message of encouragement for those working tirelessly to ensure public safety.

Recognizing their positive impact on the community, the Mayor of Colton and all city council members awarded church members the certificates of appreciation in January 2016.[6]
